Medical Scientist

Description:

The JCI and INAB accredited Pathology Department is a consultant led service and includes 45 scientific, assistant, clerical and phlebotomy staff, supporting 18 clinical units within the hospital including cardiology, endoscopy, surgery, medicine and oncology, performing a wide range of clinical laboratory investigations utilising state of the art diagnostic analysers and techniques.

You will be assigned to the Microbiology department and may be required to participate in the on-call rota as needed.

This is a full-time, specified purpose post of 12 months' duration, with possible chance of extension following this.

Key Requirements:
 

• BSc in Biomedical Science/Medical Laboratory Science only ACSLM/CORU approved degrees can be considered
• CORU registration
• Excellent knowledge of and competence in Microbiology
• Post graduate experience in a pathology laboratory is desirable
• Experience in molecular testing is desirable
• Experience using a Laboratory Information Management System
