We are looking for an ODP to join our Theatre Team.
- Work as a member of the nursing team on day duty and perform duties as allocated by the Clinical Nurse Manager 2.
- To support the CNM2, CNM1 and Staff Nurses in the total management of Theatre.
- To provide direct peri-operative Nursing care to patients attending Theatre using evidence-based practice and adjusting resources to ensure continuity of care and to take an active part in the delivery of patient care during peri-operative period.
- Liaise with attending consultant Surgeons concerning patient care and treatment and ensure that instructions are carried out.
- Ensure effective communication with patients, relatives, visitors and multidisciplinary team and ensure patient confidentiality is respected by all staff and maintained at all times.
- Provide peri-operative services within the theatre environment to maintain a high level of patient care at all times.
- Assist in providing the vision for the development and advancement of clinical care in the assigned theatre area.
- Promote and maintain good relationship with patients and other disciplines working in the theatre area.
- To participate at meetings and act as member of committees as required.
- To facilitate and take an active part in the provision of an induction programme for all new staff in conjunction with the Theatre Manager.
- Take an active part in the provision of in-service education of staff.
- To have awareness of costs and budgets to ensure that no unnecessary waste is incurred.
- Document and report to the CNM, in a timely and comprehensive manner, any incidents, accidents, near misses or complaints and participate in any subsequent investigation as requested.
- Participate in staff meetings, team meetings and committees as required.
- Be registered in the general division of the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBI
- Qualification in ODP or equivalent
- Have at least two years recent relevant post-registration nursing experience in an acute hospital setting and a minimum of one year’s nursing experience in Theatre nursing
- Have good clinical and professional ability, and excellent communication skills.
