General Role Summary
 

  • Supervision of Portering Supervisors and staff to ensure that appropriate cover is maintained and duties are carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensuring that staff are informed of and perform their duties in accordance with agreed standards and regulations in the various departments throughout the hospital.
  • Develop and maintain a high standard of service particularly in relation to punctuality, courtesy, confidentiality and grooming.
  • Liaise with users of the service e.g. Ward CNMs, Heads of Departments and respond to and deal with complaints, enquires and service requests.
  • Report any equipment faults, hazards, accidents or incidents to the General Services Manager.
  • To assist in the maintenance of accurate records as required by the General Services Manager.
  • Co-operate with the introduction of new practices and procedures and attend training programmes when required.
  • Advise the General Service’s Manager of any grievances or disciplinary matters which could potentially effect the efficient operation of the Portering Services.
  • Supervision of the hospitals waste management processes. Assist in the development of appropriate waste management procedures and participate in relevant meetings and quality improvement groups.
  • Other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned from time to time by Hospital Management.
