Description:
The role will include a mix of long-term and short-term projects nationally and internationally to support the wider Mott MacDonald businesses to grow and develop their global warming management capability, working closely with Mott MacDonald's climate change communities. The role involves managing and mentoring of junior staff, contributing to winning new work and will be client facing at a senior level.
- Performing lead advisor role within projects that require whole lifecycle assessment
- Assess the performance of projects against national and international standards as well as industry best practice and to inform the development of project design with regards to climate change.
- Provide strategic advice to clients to align their policies and processes to achieve net zero ambitions.
- Support business development related activities, identifying opportunities/prospects to allow us to prepare/position the team to produce winning proposals
- Prepare contracts and bid submissions
Candidate Specification
Essential
We welcome applications from consultants with the following experience:
- Experience in leading the delivery of climate change management projects across a range of project types delivery against scope, quality and budget, especially in the infrastructure sector
- Knowledge of legislation and policy influencing carbon and climate change, of key methodologies and data sources associated with carbon footprinting and carbon management, such as ISO14064, PAS2060, PAS2080
- Knowledge of efforts (initiatives/project/commitments) in the industry to reduce the climate change impact of transportation, construction and the built environment (and ideally participation in such endeavours)
- Experience of environmental impact assessment, and working within EIA teams, coupled with well-rounded knowledge on wider sustainability and climate change issues
- You need to have a degree / post-graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline
- Excellent communication skills, including report writing and client presentations, and numerical analytical skills, including the use of Excel and other tools
Desirable
- Energy sector experience
- Understanding of related environmental topics such as air quality and climate change adaptation and resilience
- Capacity for flexible delivery – ability to think strategically “big picture” as well as deliver shorter term detail
- Knowledge of low-carbon materials/processes/innovations in construction and the built environment
- Knowledge of the circular economy and experience of implementing CE interventions
- Experience in renewable energy or financial aspects of climate change management
- Experience of offsets and carbon sequestration
- Experience in client engagement and delivering an appropriate message to the intended audience
- Experience of mentoring junior staff
- Membership of a relevant institute, preferably at a chartered or equivalent level
