Procurement Officer

Description:

Purpose of Post
To introduce, implement and maintain best practice in the area of purchasing and stock control.
To secure the best price and quality to ensure value for money by having contracts in place for all appropriate goods and services

Placing orders through Purchase Order system.
This will include engaging with key suppliers to ensure best pricing is consistently obtained and working with a wide range of colleagues across the organisation to maximise efficient use of resources
Essential Qualifications and Experienc
Ideally, will have at least two years’ experience in a similar role
Has completed negotiations of services/contracts and prices with 3rd parties
Has managed a procurement process in private and/or public sector
Can work on their own but recognises when engagement with others is needed
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Hold a relevant qualification.
IT proficient with a particular emphasis on Excel and managing volumes of data
Understands and appreciates the difference between Value and Cost
Have a working knowledge of the Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards.
