The Role

The ESB Smart Energy Services business was set-up to develop and deliver an integrated energy management solution for large energy users in UK and Ireland. SES designs, develops and delivers tailored solutions which include energy efficiency, on-site generation and demand management technologies and we work in partnership with our customers to create long term shared value.

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Engineering & Delivery team to support delivery of key projects for our clients. This is an exciting, broad ranging and dynamic role. The successful applicant will be part of our team responsible for developing and managing new customer proposition delivery to our growing customer client base in Ireland and UK. The role will entail working with our team of engineers, external designers/suppliers, our Customer Solutions Managers and their customers to advise on the design, installation and maintenance of cost-effective and energy efficient systems for building services including Lighting, EV Fleet solutions, Heating & Cooling systems, Battery Storage, Onsite Renewables, Building Management Systems, and Energy Efficiency projects.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong safety culture and bring strong technical skills to the design and delivery of energy solutions.

This role will report to the Engineering & Delivery Manager, Smart Energy Services and will be based in Dublin but will also spend time working on client sites across Ireland and UK. Some international travel may be required from time to time. Smart working arrangements will apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the project team through the Development Phase of Energy Efficiency projects as required.
  • Provide input into the selection of contractors/suppliers by ensuring ESB requirements are included in contracts for delivery including ESB Safety Regulations for Contractors.
  • Planning and delivering aspects of customer propositions from contract signature to completion and handover in cooperation with the customer and contractors and ensure delivery is completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality and safety standards.
  • Adding value to projects by ensuring that technical solutions are robust and cost effective so as to maximise return on investment
  • Collaboration with other teams within SES and other parts of the wider ESB organisation to deliver opportunities for SES to develop their customer partnerships.
  • Coordinating contractors who are delivering small and medium to large scale projects which may be located over several client sites
  • Engaging with client representatives, project partners & contractors during the delivery phase
  • Ensuring all work is recorded and handed over to client in a timely manner
  • Carrying out audits (safety, environmental and quality) on the works and producing snag lists on completion
  • Promoting energy efficiency and the deployment of the electrification of heat and transportation
  • Participate in and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Move between various clients and projects as required

Essential Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Relevant 3rd level qualification or equivalent work experience
  • Familiarity with energy services projects
  • Understanding & knowledge of energy management
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
