Public Relations Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized and dynamic communications specialist with scientific knowledge to join the APC’s Management team in the role of Communications and Public Relations Manager to coordinate and deliver the APC’s communications, marketing and public relations activities. The key focus of this role is to position APC research on a National and International stage and to showcase how APC research is making a difference to society.

APC Microbiome Ireland (APC) is a Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre which has secured over €200 million in research funding since its foundation in 2003. Funding comes from a variety of sources including SFI, other national funding agencies, the European Framework programmes, philanthropic sources and charitable foundations, and industry. The APC is a seamless collaboration of 300 researchers, managers and support staff distributed across UCC, Teagasc, NUIG and various other academic institutions across the country. The APC recognizes that scientific advances can only be implemented with the support of an informed public, and therefore the APC has very active public engagement and communications programmes and supports SFI’s goal “To have the most engaged and scientifically informed public”. All APC staff play an active role in highlighting how their research makes a difference by engaging with the public through different communications media in order to encourage future generations to develop an understanding of the science issues that affect society.
