Description:
Purpose of Job: Our Client is looking for a highly motivated Regional Clinical Manager to provide support and guidance to four of its nursing homes in the West of Ireland. This position will report to the Chief Clinical Officer (CCO), providing key support to ongoing operations, oversight, and ownership of day-to-day operations. The Regional Clinical Manager will assist each Director of Nursing to ensure the Organisation meets and exceeds both its clinical and financial goals and all regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Oversee Day-to-Day Operations:
Oversee and report on compliance in line with the Health Act 2007, related regulations and the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) and the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) standards.
Oversee the organisation, management, and operations of the Nursing Homes.
Responsible for Risk Management and resident safety.
Ensure that the provision of a high standard of care to the residents and families in the nursing homes is consistent with the Organisation’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan.
Review weekly rosters with the Director of Nursing, ensuring budgetary compliance.
Contribute to and lead the rollout of IT systems that help automate work practices across the group.
Support the Directors of Nursing in the preparation for HIQA & EHO audits – ensure full compliance.
Ensure efficient resource allocation for the organisation.
To ensure all complaints are dealt with promptly, professionally, and sympathetically in accordance with the organisation’s complaints policy.

Knowledge of Financial/Budget Management within the Nursing Home sector.

Provide leadership and mentorship to DONs/ADONS/CNMs.
Provide strategic and clinical leadership and direction for nursing and related services, which result in the delivery of effective, efficient, quality assured and patient centred nursing care.
Ensure the appropriate reporting relationships, records, and information retrieval systems are in place to enable effective and accountable reporting for HIQA.
Resource Management:
Deliver on recruitment and retention goals.
Work with Directors of Nursing to ensure adequate rostering is in place for each home in line with SOPs.
Assist in recruiting high calibre staff adhering to our Client’s recruitment policies. Attend and lead interviews for Directors of Nursing and General Managers.
In collaboration with other staff members, develop an induction programme for all staff conforming to national requirements.
Weekly reports on budget vs actual rosters.
Optimise workforce decisions, staffing levels, and resource allocation.
Ensure efficient utilisation of resources while maintaining quality care.
Strategic Planning:
Contribute to long-term planning and goal setting.
Align operational strategies with the organisation’s mission and vision.
Develop audits to ensure NCI examines every standard contained within the care home regulations as appropriate in Ireland; also ensuring every site is compliant with the current relevant legislation.
Support Managers/Directors of Nursing to write action plans following an audit and monitor as required, in all aspects relating to Nursing or Care issues.
Prepare reports on nursing and related activities and expenditure as requested by the Chief Clinical Officer or the CEO.
Quality Improvement:
Assist managers with writing action plans following audits/inspections and monitor as required.
Ensure that all nursing and care staff update their clinical skills regularly to achieve clinical excellence.
Drive continuous improvement efforts across departments.
Monitor performance metrics and implement corrective actions.
Compliance and Regulations:
Ensure that all homes achieve full compliance from statutory inspections with HIQA.
Assist the Directors of Nursing in all aspects of the Regulators registration at each home.
The post holder must ensure they are up to date with all the new legislation and best practice initiatives relating to nursing and care, whilst being mindful of the Organisation’s ethos.
Review all regulator notification reports received by the region, follow up on areas of concern.
Ensure appropriate safeguarding policies are in place.
Maintain up to date clinical policies.
Mitigate risks and maintain legal and ethical standards.
Experience:
Extensive experience in managing a multi-site healthcare environment, within a senior leadership role.
Proven experience in dealing with healthcare regulators.
Be registered in the general division of the register of Nurses maintained by NMBI.
Educated to Masters or Degree Level in either Healthcare, Business or related qualification would be desirable.
Extensive experience of leading successful change in a patient-centred care delivery environment.
Experience of delivering high levels of productivity and efficiency.
Demonstrates an understanding of financial management and control.
Extensive knowledge of organisational management and development.
Demonstrate a track record of positive team engagement.
