What is the Role?

SSE has set a target of tripling renewable generation output to 30TWh by 2030. A significant proportion of this capacity will be contracted through competitive processes or auctions in UK&I as well as internationally. Success in these bid processes will be crucial for delivering this at scale and will require an innovative approach to add value to projects and bids as well as a robust auction strategy and analysis.

Your role within the SSE Renewables bid team will work across markets and technologies to deliver commercially robust research, evaluation and review. You will support the development and implementation of competitor, market research, and financial evaluation and review. Attention to detail is paramount and the successful candidate will be able to think innovatively to support winning bid strategies.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Developing and maintaining a global auction overview to provide commercial recommendations for wider strategy reviews.

• Building a detailed understanding of the market landscape and deliver bid related competitor review and evaluation to provide meaningful insights to the development of bid strategies.

• Supporting the bid team with analysis and implementation of value improvement programmes across technical, bid and finance workstreams to achieve the most competitive price for the bid.

• Supporting and collaborating across the bid team to prepare concise and easy to interpret presentations and communications on competitor and market analysis for senior stakeholders, the wider project team and Joint Venture boards (where applicable).

• Establishing, maintaining and leveraging a strong network and solid working relationships across SSE Renewables to drive value and support in the bid.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

• Degree level qualification in Finance, Business, Engineering, Economics or a similar discipline or significant practical experience in these areas

• Experience in market analysis or a financial role, preferably in the energy industry.

• An interest in bid modelling and strategic decision-making as well as a commercial appetite.

• Ability to distil, share and present complex and delicate information in a simple way.

• To be proactive and self-motivated with a problem-solving mindset.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint.

• The ability to engage, collaborate and build relationships with colleagues and others at all levels.
