Ireland’s National Open Research Forum (NORF) has funded six projects to implement Ireland’s National Action Plan for Open Research 2022-2030. These projects will support the visibility and impact of Irish research and help progress Ireland’s strategic goals for research and innovation under Impact 2030.

One of the projects will create a National Data Stewardship Network. This network will improve data stewardship practices in Ireland by improving recognition of the importance of research data stewardship, professionalising and supporting data stewards, and improving data stewardship skills through training for network members. The network will thus ensure the curation, preservation and dissemination of national research data assets, and the continued development of the Irish open-research landscape.

The successful candidate will support this National Data Stewardship Network, working under the direction of the project lead Dr. Aoife Coffey. The successful candidate will contribute to activities related to the development of the network such as stakeholder mapping and engagement, marketing and promotional activities; planning and delivery of a series of roadshows and two national conferences; and producing reports on professionalisation and skills development.

We are looking for a candidate with a good understanding of the Irish and European research landscape, and awareness of key issues around data stewardship, open research and FAIR data. This role may suit those with a research background but with an interest in an alt-academic/non-academic career path, professional research support services, or the emerging career path of data steward. Flexible working is possible with occasional requirement for on-site meetings.
