We have an exciting opportunity opening for the role of Risk and Planning Manager to join the SSE Thermal business. Reporting into the SSE Thermal Director of Markets, you will work in a fast paced, intellectually stimulating, and demanding yet supportive environment; working with the teams at our Power Stations, Development teams, Energy Portfolio management (EPM) & Thermal Finance you will enjoy the opportunity to influence decisions in the Thermal portfolio.

Some Of Your Main Accountabilities Will Include

• Responsibility for understanding, managing, and reporting on market price, production risks and opportunities from our assets & hedge portfolio.
• Partner with peers managing the operation of assets to identify opportunities for maximising value for existing and new assets.
• Critical input to budget, forecasts and P&L analysis of assets.
• Understanding and being on top of energy related risk, including regulatory change impacting our assets and contracts.
• Review and verification of internal transfers of commodity price with EPM and manage risk related tasks and modelling of fundamentals to assist in decision making.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to:

• Be able to demonstrate deep knowledge of the energy industry participants, industry structure and commercial mechanisms and drivers, with a passion for the Wholesale Energy markets, and the key role that SSE Thermal plays.
• Be able to evidence your understanding of industry challenges, regulatory risks and the commercial opportunities of the wholesale energy markets for the SSE Thermal Portfolio.
• Be responsible for the delivery of financial targets for the SSE Thermal business.
• Be a good communicator of complex topics, both verbally and in writing.
