Your Role and Responsibilities
The IBM Security Lab in Dublin are looking for Computer Science (or related) Interns to join our Security Intelligence Product Development team.
We offer 9-12 month placement opportunities in our Technical Support department.
As an Advanced Threat Security Support Engineer you will be an integral part of our EMEA ATS Support team. You will be involved in supporting our security products, mainly IBM QRadar - the leading Gartner SIEM security solution in the world.

You will gain exposure to a wide range of Security technologies, and the opportunity to expand your knowledge in the ever expanding Cyber Security realm. You will find a challenging role with great personal rewards gained when assisting in solving mission critical situations for the large multinational companies globally.

Main Duties

Support roles will experience working in a team of engineers providing Level 2 Support for IBM’s market leading QRadar portfolio of Security solutions. Engineers work directly with IBM’s clients, resolving current real world problems through performing diagnostics, performance optimization, security incident analysis, solution/partner recommendations, and product knowledge transfer.
To succeed in this role you must like being challenged and have the desire to “not let anything beat you”. You must be able to understand extremely complex situations and also have the ability to convey complex situations in simple terms.

This role is an University Placement Internship for 9-12 months.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Currently enrolled in a Computing/Engineering related Bachelor/Master’s Degree program
  • Must have good problem solving/troubleshooting skills. Candidates will require an engineering mindset.
  • Candidates will need a good initiative to independently research, identify, and develop solutions to a variety of customer issues.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with IBM colleagues, and our clients, right up to CISO level.


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Interest in Networking/Security experience
  • Some experience of Linux/Unix and/or SQL
  • Experience in working in a customer service based environment
  • Fluency in an additional (other than English) languages
