About the role: We serve the EU and wider markets, with an initial heavy focus on UKI. From data value assessment, data mining, and analytical modelling for product validation and implementation.
Responsibilities
- Expectation: There will be an initial key focus on evolving our infrastructure capabilities and supporting the Analytics Data Science cloud and Product migration
- Data Wrangling and Evaluation: Leverage strong data handling skills to do complex data cleaning and processing tasks, providing essential modelling support to the modelling needs of the analytics team and quickly evaluating the value of new data sources
- Analysis and Modelling: Based on a thorough understanding of client needs and product requirements, participate in project development, data exploration, value assessment, model building, deployment, and related analyses. Collaborate closely with the product team to design model application solutions, creating industry-leading analytical products
- Industry Knowledge and Continuous Learning: Stay informed about the latest developments in the insurance industry, actuarial field, and data science, providing the team with updates on new technologies and industry insights. Assist in preparing presentations or promotional materials to enhance the company's influence and value
- Good Industry Understanding and Excellent Communication: Utilize strong Data and Computer Science knowledge working closely with their Data Science team, product, sales, and other data teams. Support diverse external and internal customer test projects, including product tests, implementation and client communication, ensuring smooth project delivery
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher, with significant experience in Data Science
- Preferable knowledge on the area of actuarial pricing modelling in the insurance market, actuarial department, or regional actuarial field
- Proficiency in Python or R, with experience in modeling and project work using GLMs (Generalized Linear Models), GBDT/XGBoost/LightGBM/CatBoost, or other machine learning algorithms, emphasizing a good understanding and application of machine learning models
- Advanced data processing skills with a deep understanding of and experience in applying data science libraries such as numpy, pandas, and sklearn. Extensive experience in data cleaning and standardization, with the ability to efficiently respond to data processing and analysis requirements
- Design, build and maintain pipelines for large-scale data processing using azure services like Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory and Azure ML studio
- Work with Azure data storage services like Azure Blob storage and Azure Data Lake Gen2 services for retrieval and efficient storage of data
- Analyse the performance of data pipelines, machine learning models and cloud resources to ensure optimal performance and efficiency
- Proficiency in SQL and other database languages, with the ability to flexibly apply them for data processing. Familiar with Tableau or Power BI for data visualization, enabling completion of analysis and statistical reporting tasks
- Excellent data insight and analytical skills, rigorous logical thinking, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a collaborative team spirit with the ability to work under pressure
