Description:
Meath County Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons who wish to be considered for inclusion on a panel from which permanent and fixed-term contract vacancies for the position of Senior Executive Librarian shall be drawn.
The position of Senior Executive Librarian is a senior management post within the Library Service of Meath County Council. The post requires high level professional library and management skills, that include both a strategic and operational element.
The duties of the Senior Executive Librarian include:
- Taking overall responsibility for particular aspects of the service and maintaining the service at maximum efficiency in close liaison with the County Librarian and senior team;
- Compiling reports for the County Librarian in order to keep them informed of the progress of the library services;
- Leading change across the library service to enable delivery of quality services to the public
- Participation in both national and local council committees for the development and implementation of new, innovative services
- Taking part in formal staff and student training;
- Accepting responsibility for the direction, control and welfare of the library staff under the post holder’s authority and developing the abilities of each individual;
- Supervision of the performance of Library Service staff and responsibility for other HR management and associated policies;
- Selecting and exploiting material across all subject areas;
- Developing and maintaining good relations with community leaders;
- Supporting the promotion and marketing of the County’s Library Service and the development of outreach programmes;
- Working in partnership with other agencies, in the development of services to the community and improving the accessibility to library services.
