The Local Government sector in Ireland is made up of 31 Local Authorities and three Regional Assemblies. Local Authorities are the closest and most accessible form of Government to citizens. They have responsibility for delivery of a wide range of services in their local area with a focus on making cities, towns, villages and countryside attractive places to live, work and invest. These services make a significant contribution to the physical, cultural, social and environmental development of communities and include housing; planning; infrastructure; environmental protection; and the provision of recreation and amenities and community infrastructure.
A vacancy now exists in Carlow County Council for the position of Senior Executive Planner.
A senior position within the Planning Department reporting to the Senior Planner and/or other employee nominated by the Chief Executive, the Senior Executive Planner is responsible for managing elements of the Planning Department and providing a multiplicity of services to Local Authorities. They will be required to work closely with the Senior Management Team and Elected Members to deliver the full range of services, implement local policy decisions and deliver on strategic corporate objectives and in accordance with the general policy direction of the elected council at full Council level.
