Position Overview
CRH is seeking to appoint a Senior Manager of Corporate Sustainability Financial Reporting as part of Corporate Sustainability Reporting team reporting to the Head of Corporate Sustainability Financial Reporting and Enterprise Performance Management
This is a senior finance role, who would be core to our team which is building our expertise in this rapidly evolving area. Our team plays a central role in supporting senior management, group functions and business and works alongside and supports other sustainability related group functions of ESG & Capital Markets and Sustainability Strategy function.
With a global trend to allocate capital more to sustainable economic activities we are seeing significant legislation being introduced at pace:
- Priority of climate risk and sustainable development issues
- Increased stakeholder expectations on the Sustainability performance of companies, and the related reporting requirements.
- Standardisation of Sustainability information
- Importance of disclosures of climate related matters and their financial implications such as part of Taskforce for Climate Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
- Proposed rules by SEC on climate matters, the move by the IFRS Trustees to create a Sustainability Standards Board and
- Implementation of the green taxonomy and new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (revision of Non-Financial Reporting Directive) by the European Union.
As a Senior Manager of Corporate Financial Reporting team you will guide and drive the development of our ESG reporting, its integration with financial reporting as well as the data transparency and reliability. Working closely alongside our Senior Manager of Corporate Environmental Reporting and Senior Manager of Corporate Risk Reporting you will lead and build a team focused on reporting and regulatory matters for both internal and external needs.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Support the Head of Corporate Sustainable Financial Reporting define and communicate CRH’s strategy to respond to the Sustainability Reporting developments.
- Guide the future direction of sustainability reporting by following developments in ESG reporting such as EU Taxonomy, SEC rules on climate change, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and ISSB
- Provide guidance and training to Group functions and Division teams on ESG reporting regulations and related initiatives and enhancements to CRHs processes
- Lead the integration of ESG data in financial reporting and expand the teams reporting scope
- Take responsibility for data analysis and preparation for external reporting
- Develop and roll out an effective framework for the identification, assessment and management of all required metrics and opportunities.
- Develop internal processes, control systems and structures for ESG reporting across the organisation in close alignment with operational, sustainability and financial functions
- Liaise with our auditors and other key stakeholders to ensure unqualified and timely assurance of our data
- Manage the key activities on corporate sustainability financial reporting, working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation, in particular global finance and sustainability
You will be involved in:
- Building a network of experts
- Contribute to Sustainability thought leadership and knowledge management
- Communication on Sustainability reporting updates including contributions to training and publications, developing knowledge materials
- Defining our internal policies, definitions, control framework, processes and enhancing IT reporting systems
- Respond to enquiries from teams across CRH, providing guidance on the Sustainability reporting issues in conjunction with Group Finance and Sustainability Strategy team
- Identifying opportunities to leverage business initiatives
- Defining milestone and keeping up to date with the progress of ongoing projects
- Co-ordinating at a Divisional, Regional/Cluster level with various multi-discipline functions and expertise
- Consolidation, verification and analysis of key Sustainability metrics
