The Clinical Laboratory Sciences (CLS) organization is responsible for delivering reliable clinical data that enables our business partners and customers to make informed clinical and healthcare decisions. This requires an in-depth understanding of our clinical labs and data processes; the people that we manage; the functional partners with which we work; the quality standard to which our teams adhere; and the streamlined coordination and communications with our third party providers.

  • Provide solutions that enable the on-time delivery of our clinical portfolio;
  • Ensure that quality practices are at the core of all activities whether performed in-house or delegated to one of our TPOs;
  • Serve as first line supervision for their team members;
  • Foster an environment of shared learning where ideas, successes, and issues can be brought forward for the benefit of the entire team.
  • Attract, retain, and develop a diverse workforce including the training and integration of new staff.

  • Understand functional sourcing strategies and TPO providers to align CLS resource with needs and development timing.
  • Accountable for the successful development and implementation of CLS deliverables for supported processes, molecules, and TPOs
  • Manage resource allocation, utilization, and tracking to meet the demands of an evolving portfolio.
  • Oversee CLS vendor relationships, engagements, communications, and coordination to ensure resource alignment and meet prioritization needs within TA and across the portfolio.
  • Engage and lead timely communications in support of portfolio demands to raise awareness around delivery expectations, successful delivery of portfolio milestones, and/or issue resolution.
  • Ensure registration strategies have appropriate CLS participation and routinely communicate plans and progress to those needing involvement, including CLS leaders.
  • Collaborate with peers to coordinate resource needs and support CLS initiatives where needed.
  • Monitor operational metrics to assess performance, ensure portfolio delivery, and deliver with quality and within budget.
  • Sponsor an environment of shared learning within your team and across the CLS function.
  • Monitor, measure, and evaluate to identify process improvement opportunities. Work with team and organization to define action and then deliver.
  • Work with peers to align where needed in support of business process and resource needs.
  • Represent CLS in cross-functional initiatives to share perspective and ensure appropriate process considerations.
  • Support CLS initiatives by actively and visibly participating as needed to support delivery.
  • Understand comprehensive CLS model to better identify, drive, and deliver process improvement strategies. This may include areas of focus like cycle time reduction, quality improvements, system/process improvements, or resource efficiency gains/savings opportunities.
  • Work with partners to increase vendor/partner efficiencies.
  • Incorporate learning from risk taking exercises into clinical and business processes
  • Understand the confidential nature of company information and takes necessary steps to ensure its protection. This includes understanding various aspects of Privacy as it relates to the data collected via CLS processes.
  • Ensure that an appropriate confidentiality agreement has been executed before disclosing confidential company information to TPOs or other outside parties.
  • Accept obligation to Lilly for compliance to the integrity of the company.
  • Maintain training compliance for all ethics and integrity focused training including Red Book. Ensure that this is a priority for team members and that they review, understand, and comply with Lilly asset protection.
  • Bachelor’s degree
