Senior Mechanical Estimator

Mech Tech Professionals is actively recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Estimator for our client, they are a specialist process and mechanical engineering contractor with decades of experience delivering high-performing construction solutions to some of the world’s fastest growing industries and clients.

The Senior Mechanical Estimator reports directly to the Estimating Manager and is an integral part of the estimating team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate mechanical cost estimates, ensuring timely submission of tenders. You will be working on tenders for projects across multiple industries, such as Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, Data Centers, Semi-Conductor and Commercial.

Full training will be provided to ensure that you become proficient and familiar with the cost estimating software the.

The Senior Mechanical Estimators responsibilities include:

• Conducting in-dept reviews of tender documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, etc.
• Ensuring quantity take-offs and mark up measured drawings are accurately prepared.
• Requesting, managing, and evaluating supplier and sub-contractor quotations.
• Issue tender queries and RFIs.
• Preparing costed bill of quantities.
• Preparing tender reports, tender pricing schedules and other tender return documents.
• Advising on potential value engineering opportunities.
• Managing the data base.
• Attending meetings and site visits are when required.
• Adhering to tender return deadlines.
• Liaising with clients, consultants, contractors, and wider project teams.
• Other related tasks as instructed.

Candidate requirements:

·        Degree in either Mechanical, Process, Building Services Engineering or other related field.

·        Previous mechanical cost estimating experience in a contracting environment with experience of delivering tenders from enquiry to award stage is essential.

·        Strong computer skills especially in the use of MS Office.

·        Strong understanding of mechanical & process pipework systems, HVAC, plumbing and other mechanical building services systems.

·        Good knowledge of different mechanical & process pipework materials.

·        Strong attention to detail.

·        Ability to interpret drawings and specifications, preform accurate take-offs, and prepare detailed BOQs.

·        Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines.

·        Must display excellent time management, communication, numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
