An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist with a Positive, energetic and forward-thinking attitude to join a 46 bedded adult in patient until in Drogheda.

Medforce Recruitment are recruiting a Senior Occupational Therapist to join a wonderful mental health until located in Drogheda.

The Successful OT will be an active member of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). There is a significant focus on the use of occupation-based interventions, individually and in groups, to support the recovery of the patients.

The Senior OT will be supported and guided by an experienced Occupational Therapy manager who will provide regular supervision. Senior Therapists will also provide supervision to staff grade therapists (depending on experience). Opportunity for peer supervision is also available.

There are opportunities for departmental learning during the monthly OT meetings, where service development is strongly encouraged.

The Senior Occupational Therapist will:

  • Be responsible for the provision of a high-quality Occupational Therapy Service
  • Develop and maintain high standards of clinical practice within this area through clinical evaluation, audit and research opportunities.
  • Engage actively in clinical and educational duties as required and will evaluate the above-described service.
  • Contribute to a structured process for education of senior and staff grade colleagues, undergraduates and other disciplines.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of standards of practice of self and staff appointed to clinical / designated area(s).
  • Be responsible for managing own caseload and for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment programmes for service users according to service standards.
  • Participate in the integrated discharge planning process in line with the HSE Code of Practice
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day running of a designated service area(s) by supervising staff, prioritising and allocating work and promoting positive staff morale and team working in conjunction with the Occupational Therapist Manager.
  • In conjunction with the Occupational Therapist Manager lead service planning by anticipating the changing needs of the service and service users.
  • Foster and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, front line managers, and other healthcare personnel in the team.
  • Ensure the quality of documentation of all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, reports and discharge summaries are in accordance with local service and professional standards.

 

Requirements

  • Be registered or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
  • Have three years full time (or an aggregate of three years) post qualification clinical experience with two years in Adult Mental Health Services.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate evidence of having applied / used appropriate assessment tools and treatments and a knowledge of the implications of outcomes to service users.
  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge, clinical reasoning skills and evidence-based practice appropriate to carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the role in line with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead on planning and managing the delivery of an optimum service in an effective and resourceful manner.
