Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze complex financial statements and assess the creditworthiness of businesses seeking trade credit and surety coverage.
- Price risks appropriately, considering market conditions, industry trends, and individual risk profiles.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and clients.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends.
- Stay abreast of industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging risks within the trade credit and surety market.
- Collaborate with other departments, including claims, actuarial, and sales, to ensure effective risk management and business growth.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other key stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of underwriting guidelines and procedures.
- Mentor junior underwriters, sharing knowledge and expertise.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field; a Master's degree or relevant professional designations (e.g., ACII) are preferred.
- Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in underwriting trade credit and surety risks, with a proven track record of success.
- Strong understanding of financial analysis, credit risk assessment, and insurance principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
