Description:
Beaumont Cardiology Interventional Suite/Cardiology Day Ward is a rotational, dual area, cardiology service. It is a fast paced and rapidly changing service. The department performs elective, inpatient and emergency cases including coronary angiograms, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), TOEs, electrophysiology procedures and cardiac devices such as pacemakers and ICDs. We also perform more complex structural cases including insertion of Left atrial appendage closure devices and ASD/PFO closure device implantation. It is a Monday-Friday service providing care with a multidisciplinary team approach to deliver a high standard of patient care, working together to provide a safe environment and efficient service.
Principle duties and responsibilities:
To deliver and maintain a high standard of nursing care including virtual pre-assessment, pre intra and post procedure care, patient education and discharge advice.

Clinical Role:
Clinical:
- Demonstrate expertise in the nursing assessment and management if emergency cardiac situations including acute cardiac chest pain patients and arrhythmias.
- Have the ability to anticipate, recognise and rapidly respond to the unpredictable situations within the CIS and recovery/cardiology day ward.
- Provide a safe and welcoming environment for patients in a highly complex and technical area.
- Reassure and support patient’s pre intra and post procedure.
- Ensure safe and efficient set up of procedure equipment before each procedure adhering to ANTT and maintaining sterile environment.
- Assist the medical team during cases by circulating within the lab and close monitoring of patients condition.
- Administer medications as per ABA guidelines.
- Assesses patients regularly for change in clinical condition and respond accordingly.
- Participate in local audits in preparation for annual review.
- Establishes care priorities based on patient and department need.
- Functions quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Adapts efficiently to a changing workload.
- Respects dignity and confidentiality of patients serving as an advocate as necessary.
- Deals with department incident and accidents in accordance to the hospital policy.
- Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in others areas of the hospital as needed.
- Assists with the day to day running of the work list, assist with notifying wards of upcoming procedures.

- Liaise with the multidisciplinary team in a timely manner to ensure the safe and effective management of the patient flow and robust management of emergency cardiac admissions
