Stakeholder Engagement Officer

Cork City Council invites applications, on the official application form, from suitably qualified persons, who wish to be considered for the post of Communications/Stakeholder Engagement Officer (Grade VI) on a 3-year fixed term contract.
The successful candidate will support the rollout of sustainable transport projects in Cork City. These projects include the measures to be delivered under Cork BusConnects as well as active travel infrastructure improvements. The postholder will be an integral member of the Cork BusConnects Delivery Team, the National Transport Authority Communications Unit, Cork City Councils Corporate Communications Team, and the Active Travel Infrastructure Delivery Unit. The postholder will be based in the Infrastructure Development Directorate of Cork City Council. This post is a full-time contract for 35 hours per week.
This is an exciting opportunity to become a staff member of the City Council in a role that will promote the image and standing of the City and the sustainable transport schemes to be delivered by Cork City Council and the National Transport Authority. This high-profile role will focus on the preparation and implementation of the communications and public engagement plans necessary for the successful delivery of the sustainable travel investment programme for Cork.
The successful candidate should have a strong belief in the value of local government, empathy with the transport aims and public service ethos of Cork City Council and the National Transport Authority and experience of media and communications in the public sector.

Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms –

• A qualification, at level 7 or higher in media/communications/public relations or a related discipline.
• An appreciation and understanding of the issues relating to sustainable transport in the context of the local government sector as well as an understanding of the strategic transport objectives of Cork City Council.
• Proven skills in use of technologies appropriate to the position.
