Description:

The CRH Sustainability team is looking for a Sustainability Manager. The purpose of the role amounts to the following:

  • Leading the Sustainable Business reporting team and proactively supports them to realise their full potential through continuous development.
  • Being responsible for recommending long term direction and leading the development and design of sustainability content for various CRH publications and internal/external communications including the Annual Report, Sustainability Report, the CRH website and other reporting and communications requirements.
  • Providing expert understanding, strategic insight and horizon scanning on current and emerging sustainability frameworks, ESG/stakeholder issues and reporting requirements, ensuring that the business is kept fully aware of and responds appropriately to emerging requirements.
  • Leading the development of CRH’s materiality assessment and supports the development of the CRH sustainability framework and overarching sustainability strategies, policies and positioning, responding to key stakeholder requirements and supporting CRH’s sustainability leadership position and reputation.
  • Guiding the business on best practice sustainability reporting and communication.
  • This is a manager-level role, contributing to value-creation opportunities and central to supporting senior management, group functions and business, working alongside other sustainability-related group functions, including Capital Markets &ESG and the Corporate Sustainability Financial Reporting function.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

  • Manage the development of sustainability content creation for the Annual Report, Sustainability Report, CRH website and other internal/external sustainability communications, including composition, design, content, data analysis, materiality assessment, stakeholder engagement, GRI standards verification, alignment with SASB requirements, consistency with non-financial reporting requirements (NFRD/CSRD), communications material for report launch etc.
  • Be responsible for understanding of current and emerging sustainability frameworks and reporting requirements, as well as best practice communications.
  • Lead the Double Materiality process to define CRH sustainability priorities through internal and external stakeholder engagement and supports communication of these across the Group.
  • Contribute to the Sustainable Business team in areas including managing the development and publication of sustainability reporting, policies, positioning and strategies and supporting the delivery of CRH´s ambitions across all areas of sustainability.
  • Understand evolving stakeholder expectations on leading-class performance in sustainability and recommending actions for CRH to achieve its strategic objectives.
  • Influence and build relationships with key stakeholders to further advance the development of CRH sustainability strategies, ESG submissions, sustainability messaging etc.
  • Represent CRH sustainability in collaborative internal initiatives and with external organisations and associations.
  • Prepare presentations and communication materials for senior leadership and external stakeholders.
