Calluna are clinical stage biotech and have raised $70 Million in one of the largest Series A financing rounds in Europe this year.
This opportunity is excellent for any seasoned drug developer who has a successful track record in developing programs in the Immuno-Inflammation space and is looking to take a step up in their career. With this role reporting directly into the CEO, this role offers the opportunity for an individual to take on the responsibilities of strategically developing the Calluna pipeline.

Core responsibilities
The SVP Discovery and Early Development will lead the scientific and strategic direction for the preclinical and translational aspects of the current and future programs in the Calluna Pharma pipeline. They will act as a member of the Calluna Pharma Leadership Team to help shape the overall vision, portfolio development and strategy for the company.
Key tasks
- To apply expertise in immunology, biology and translational research to tackle challenges in the progression of immune-inflammatory projects through all phases of discovery and non-clinical development
- To manage a team of Project Directors
- To identify and manage (either directly or through their team) external scientific collaborations with CROs and academic groups
- To lead the translational function to ensure all preclinical programs address clinical translational needs prior to candidate nomination
- To work closely with CMC consultants and associated CROs to ensure timely delivery of a suitable non-clinical package of data for programs prior to IND (or equivalent) submission
- To work closely with the Clinical and Regulatory teams to ensure timely delivery of plans for the preclinical portfolio
- To lead the identification and due diligence work required on new assets to broaden the company portfolio
- To identify, and once vetted, incorporate other antibodies that could be additive or synergistic with existing assets in the Calluna Pharma pipeline
- To lead the IP strategy of the company
- To present to the Calluna Pharma board, the scientific strategy, progress, issues and solutions as it relates to the preclinical portfolio
- To represent the company scientifically through presentations and posters at high profile scientific meetings and to prospective investors or partners
- To provide scientific support to investor and partner presentations and discussions through the generation and presentation of key scientific data and the provision of answers to investor Q&A’s as required
Professional Experience / Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology or a related discipline, or equivalent industrial experience
- Minimum 15 years of relevant industrial experience in Biotech or Pharma
- Track record of leading programs from discovery up to IND submissions/early clinical development within Immunology or Inflammation.
- Experience in managing internal and external teams of functional experts
- Efficient and critical evaluator of new drug discovery opportunities
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, proficient at presentation to different audiences, including senior management and external partners
