Teaching Assistant

 

Description:

As a Teaching Assistant – IT Networking & Cloud at Cenit College, you will play a pivotal role in assisting lecturers and supporting learners in their journey to become proficient IT professionals. Your primary responsibility will be to provide hands-on assistance in both classroom (virtual) and lab settings (virtual), ensuring that students gain a deep understanding of IT Networking and Cybersecurity concepts and tools via the prescribed curriculum. You will collaborate closely with the lecturer and programme co-ordinator to facilitate a productive and engaging learning environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Classroom/Lab Support:

 

· Assist the lecturer in delivering lectures, workshops, and interactive lessons.

· Offer clarifications and explanations to learners, addressing their questions and concerns.

· Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.

· Provide guidance and support during hands-on lab exercises and projects.

· Assist learners in configuring, securing, and troubleshooting network infrastructure and cybersecurity tools.

· Help learners understand and apply best practices in IT Infrastructure, networking and cybersecurity.

 

Learner Engagement:

 

· Foster a supportive and collaborative learning environment.

· Encourage active participation and teamwork among learners.

· Provide constructive feedback on student assignments and projects.

 

Administrative Tasks:

 

· Assist in grading assignments and exams.

· Maintain accurate records of learner attendance and performance.

· Collaborate with the lecturer to develop and update course materials.

 

Technology Proficiency:

 

· Stay current with the latest IT Infrastructure, Networking and Cloud Technologies, tools, and practices.

· Be prepared to teach and assist learners in using relevant networking equipment, software, and security solutions.

 

Qualifications:

 

· Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Or related industry qualifications, from such vendors as CompTIA, CCNA, Microsoft.

· Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networking and cybersecurity principles and practices.

· Proficiency in network configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.

· Familiarity with cybersecurity tools, protocols, and best practices.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Previous teaching or tutoring experience is a plus.

· Passion for helping learners succeed.

· Pedagogical qualification (QQI Level 6) preferred but not essential. Training will be given.
