Description:

ALONE support older people to age at home. We provide direct, frontline services to people aged 60 and over, through support coordination, befriending and support, housing with support, co-living, and the application of assistive technology. We have more than 2000 volunteers and 140 plus homes for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We have been awarded Quality Marks from Volunteer Ireland, the ISO, the Charities Regulator and the Housing Regulatory Standard.
This is an exciting role in Technology Engagement team at ALONE. The TEO role combines training, technology, and social care to transform the lives of older people.
The Technology Engagement Officer must have an understanding of Assistive Technology devices and be comfortable with the functionality, configuration and set up, of the suite of devices ALONE currently provide.
The TEO will also hold responsibility for training ALONE Support Co-ordination Staff and Volunteers in the use the ALONE Assistive Technology and application Initiatives.
The TEO will also provide ongoing support for Staff and Older People as required.
The Technology Engagement Officer will also have responsibility for researching, sourcing and testing new devices that can help people to live more independently in their own homes.
This role will be integral in the Technology Engagement team to meet the goals and objectives of ALONE technology strategy.
TEO will also help with the design and roll out of apps build, developed and used by ALONE.
Helping ALONE via our network of staff and volunteers to empower older people to manage their own health and wellbeing, safety and security and social connectivity.

 


Setup and configuration

  • Liaising with suppliers around device purchase and delivery
  • Creating and managing an inventory of devices
  • To set up and pair devices with required systems and suppliers pre installation as required.

Distribution, Installation, Training, On-Going Support:

  • To work with the Services to train staff and volunteers to distribute technology to benefit the older people they are working with
  • To work with the Services team to install technology where that is needed.
  • To help services to develop the ability to respond to the alerts and or changes in needs
  • To provide training and support to the Services Staff, Volunteers and to the older person after installation as required.
  • To support / training Services Staff and volunteers to maintain devices, such as updating tablets, replacing batteries and replacing sensors if needed.
  • To work with third parties ie, La Casa, Respond housing, etc.

Research and Testing

  • To research suitable new and innovative assistive technology devices that could support older people to live at home for longer
  • To work with the Support Services Department to generate monthly and YTD reports and metrics.
  • To analyse and report on emerging trends.
  • To work with the team to leverage the impact of the tech service at a national level and to maximise the support provided to the older people ALONE serve.

Outside of the above, you may be required to carry out other duties as needed.

If you are passionate about supporting older people and have an interest in technology, we would love to hear from you. This role requires compassion, patience, fantastic communication skills and a good understanding of how technology can assist the older person in their day-to-day life.
The successful candidate must enjoy working as part of an innovative team but also be happy working on their own initiative and occasionally in a pressurised environment.
