Job Description Summary: What you need to know about the role: We have a board of four trustees and seeking a senior leader with experience in the Irish charity sector to join the board of PayPal Giving Fund Ireland. Meet our team: PayPal Giving Fund aims to inspire a new wave of philanthropy by harnessing the power of technology to make giving a part of everyday life. We do this by developing and managing innovative programmes that enable donors to support their favourite charities with leading Internet businesses around the world.

• Acting in the charity’s best interests and ensuring its effective administration, in particular its solvency and financial health.

• Making meaningful information about the charity readily available and engaging in open and honest communication with its stakeholders.

• Champion innovation and sustainability, encouraging the organization to embrace new technologies and business models that can help it stay ahead of the curve.

• Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, including customers, employees, and the wider community, to ensure that the organization is meeting its obligations and creating positive change.

• Ensure the charity always acts within its charitable purposes, its governing document, and the requirements of the Charities Act.

• Ensure the charity maintains its independent governance and credibility, including to the charity’s regulators, through robust decision-making.

• Ensure the charity is sufficiently well-informed concerning PayPal’s strategy and partners to be effective in fulfilling its mission through its partnership.

• Inform and/or undertake advocacy to harness resources and support for the charity from partners where this meets shared objectives.

What do you need to bring:

• Experience reporting to, and/or serving on, a charity board, with the ability to Chair board and/or committee meetings.

• Led or overseen the fundraising function in charities of various sizes.

• Experienced with harnessing digital technology to transform fundraising and/or service delivery in a charity.

• Familiarity with charity sector issues and policy developments and networked across the charity sector.

• Confident in overseeing the legal and regulatory requirements on charities, assessing risk, and driving best practice.
