Waste Operative

 

Description:

Responsible for dealing with hazardous and non-hazardous waste management on site. To ensure high standards of waste management are performed on-site as directed by the supervisor.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

General services operatives are responsible for dealing with on-site hazardous and non-hazardous waste management. Duties, not restricted to, are as follows:
 

  • Loading of curtain siders and containers by use of Forklift
  • To service hazardous and non-hazardous waste collection points throughout the client site
  • Empty Non-hazardous bins
  • Empty Hazardous waste bins
  • Filling and use of the general waste compactor
  • Filling and use of the Dry Mixed Recyclable Compactor Baling of cardboard, plastic, and paper waste streams.
  • Completion of all relevant paperwork with regard to non-hazardous waste, other paperwork,k and admin duties
  • Ad hoc duties as required.
     

Qualifications & Experience
 

  • Valid forklift license or experience in driving forklifts.
  • Experience in Environmental or Waste management is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to demonstrate awareness of Health and Safety good practice in relation to cleaning procedures.
  • Be an Apleona ambassador
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understand safe working practices and health and safety legislation
  • Ability to work on his/her own
  • Well-organised and capable of prioritising own work
  • Flexible, Honest and reliable
  • Excellent Work Record
  • Previous experience in similar role is advantageous
  • Flexible approach to working as part of a team.
  • Forklift training is a distinct advantage.
