This is a key digital role within the Communications Department at RCSI. The Web Content Specialist will work with the Web Strategy and Development Manager to develop and implement robust digital communications plans for the University.
The Web Content Specialist will work strategically to enhance the reputation of RCSI and build the University’s digital capabilities, delivering a best-in-class experience for our users, both internally and externally.
The ideal candidate is creative, with excellent editorial skills and a passion for digital communications.
Duties include:
- Develop and execute a website publishing plan that drives high engagement and aligns with the University’s strategic communications objectives.
- Implement changes to website layouts and architecture, ensuring adherence to best-in-class content and UX principles
- Create and edit engaging, personalised content for our various audiences, ensuring adherence to brand principles and accessibility.
- Brainstorm and collaborate with colleagues to develop new ideas for marketing and communications campaigns and content strategies.
- Work with stakeholders to optimise content for web and ensure brand consistency across our network of sites.
- Provide guidance on the distribution of content across RCSI digital channels and create schedules and content calendar plans for all major initiatives/projects and business priorities.
- Create, source and maintain a range of engaging digital assets – including imagery, video, infographics and copy – ensure quality, clarity and brand consistency across all.
- Work as part of the Digital Team to manage website stakeholder groups and provide support to various content editors across the University to ensure they have the knowledge and tools required to effectively communicate with their online audience.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Digital media, Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or related field.
- Postgraduate degree or professional qualification in digital marketing/communications (highly desirable but not essential).
Knowledge and experience (essential):
- Experience in a similar role.
- Proven experience in online publishing; including content strategy, editing and copywriting.
- Proficient in the use of various content management systems.
- Proven knowledge and experience of using web analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, with the ability to draw insights from data.
- Understanding of content marketing tactics such as content optimisation for SEO and digital advertising.
- Working knowledge of HTML and technical terminology around web development.
- Experience tailoring content for specific audiences/markets.
- Experience using image manipulation software, e.g. Photoshop.
Knowledge and experience (desirable):
- Knowledge and experience of working with Sitecore CMS.
- Familiarity with the principles of UX design.
- Experience working with Shorthand – digital storytelling platform.
- Knowledge and experience of working with OneTrust cookie consent.
- Experience of working in the third level education sector and/or for a multinational organisation.
- Digital asset management.
